I have to disagree with your last line. My general recommendation with these is to read Hyperion and then stop, or if you have to know what happens to Rachel, read Fall and then stop. The Endymion books were written a lot later, and he didn't intend to write them, and while there are one or two cool things on the whole they spoil the universe.

I've heard from other people, after I originally wrote this entry, that the quality of the series diminishes as the books progress, so I believe your assessment. And hey, you've read them, I haven't. :) But I'll probably read them anyway, but not any time soon.
