Not entirely related to your review: the husband and I just celebrated our 10th anniversary a couple of months ago. I gave him a photosculpture of Beyonce, the giant metal chicken. For Christmas, he gave me a smallish metal chicken (it probably stands about 12" high).
I suspect, and I could be wrong because I don't read her blog and she's probably talked about it there, but I suspect it won't be new material to BLOG readers: in other words, whatever's added to the trade will likely be available for free in her blog archives. OR perhaps the publisher will allow that extra material to be available for download for 99 cents or something. No idea. I do know that usually, it's rarely the author's idea to screw their readers over by adding material for a reprint: it's almost always the publisher wanting to make a little cash, because they know some readers who bought the hardcover will buy the trade paperback just for the extra. Of course, they do have to get said material from the author, but is the author really going to say no?
Hopefully, it'll be something already available on her blog. I'm sure she'll talk about it somewhere. :)
Glad to hear the photo problem isn't just a Kindle issue. I'll probably still get a physical copy anyway, but I'll be sure to review the content first.
Now I'm torn as to whether or not I should purchase the hardcover, because after reading your review, I really want to finish it. Maybe the library has a copy. I think I also found out about her through the Beyonce the giant metal chicken post, which was hilarious. I didn't even know that she had rheumatoid arthritis until I was skimming the book in the store
( ... )
My advice is to get it from the library and sit down and read the whole thing straight through. Then decide if you want a personal copy, and if you do, get the trade so you get the bonus material. :)
