I love this story and was emotional at the end. Liu's novella is also excellent and well worth reading, though it didn't quite have the same emotional punch as "The Paper Menagerie."
I enjoyed this one too. His attitude toward his mother made me squirm uncomfortably, which I think was the intention. I also really liked the final resolution.
For sure! I actually read all of the stories back to back as it's easier for me to personally evaluate what I liked and connected with versus the other stories eligible. I found in the end what was most important to me was emotional resonance. I lacked feeling emotionally connected to all but two stories so it made the decision much easier in the end.
