Amazon Shananegians

Normally, I don't post non-review material during the week unless it's related to the book club. Something like this would normally be a weekend update, but I wanted to talk about it while it was fresh on my mind and to find out if this had ever happened to anyone else. So, erm, sorry? :)

They do have that "one click ordering" system set up. I used it a few times with fear and trembling. One click seems too easy with potential accidents (especially with me involved and spasmodic wants - what if my hands interpreted my feelings w/o checking with my decision-maker?!)

I set up my Nook so that I have to say "yes, I really want to order this" at least twice. Just in case.

But what if a One-Clicker went crazy?! Would it order stuff for you when you casually checked it out?! Did someone think you wouldn't notice?!

I need to clarify... I think we are very careful about ordering even when they make it so easy. I seriously doubt you'd ordered that book without remembering. I suspect big retailers are over-eager to sell. And I'm sorry you had to go through the phone (in a can) to get it righted. Very. I hate calling in so someone else can fix their mistake. Yuck.

It's all good. :) I've decided I know what happened. November 17th wasn't the day I was traveling to Ft. Lauderdale, but the day after I got back. I got the email on my phone, checked out the item on the phone, and in the process of closing out the screen/turning off my phone, clicked the wrong thing and it ordered. Amazon still never sent me the initial confirmation, which is their bad, but it's been fixed, so it's all good. :)

i've had the WRONG thing ordered, before. a couple of times [most recently was GASLIGHT DOGS, if you remember]. by which i mean, i ordered a book, the confirmation email said it was the book i ordered, the site itself says it's the book i ordered on the day i ordered it - and then... something happens, and the site decides i ordered something ELSE. and i don't always notice, because it's almost always something i DO want to buy, so it doesn't look out of place. though i've become MUCH more careful, checking each new order the next day, and then again a few days later.

it's entirely probable that something similar happened to you.
or, it could be that it was an accident with your phone :)

I remember hearing about that ordeal! I'm glad it finally got sorted out, despite your having issues with the book itself.
