Charlie forwarded this to me since I haven't logged into LJ in awhile (still working on the proposal), but thank you so much. It's very gratifying when readers Get what the writer is trying to do. Not all readers do, and it's a matter of point of view or perspective a lot of the time, but the ones who seem to sync with my brain and intent are the ones that seem to really understand the story and characters. Thank you for posting the review. :)

You're very welcome. :) I'm really excited to have found your work this year. I read Warchild as part of my reading component in Seton Hill's Writing Popular Fiction Program. Tobias Buckell recommended it. :)
The first time I was dying for Jos' point of view was when Ryan left Evan's bunk and he met Jos outside. Jos's reaction was great, and I was really, really interested what was going on between him and Evan, since at the end of Warchild, there was that lovely hand moment. Course, my questions got answered later. :) And yes, the second was when they were on Niko's ship (the hug made me grin with glee). :)
And yes, I'm working on a novel for the WPF program. Science fiction, though I'm still trying to figure out where it "fits" in the genre, though I'm ready to forget about that part and just get everything OUT on paper so I can whip it into shape later. :) Thanks for your interest. :)
You asking reminds me of a question I wanted to ask, especially in light of reading Burndive (you don't have to answer at all or right away,
( ... )
I read Crystal Rain back in April, I think. He's amazing with setting and detail. We're very much opposites in that regard, and he's been really good about urging me to focus more in description in my prose. :)
I feel your pain: I have a hard time watching and reading the news, because so much ticks me off and frustrates me. But it's a shortcoming too, because I really need to focus on some politics to make sure the undercurrents of my novel are working for me instead of against me. :)

Cagebird is good but Warchild remains my favourite.
