Wouldn't bother me if you didn't finish the book, just so long as the rest of us could spoil it for you, in the interests of discussing why it might have been worth continuing and/or why you were perfectly right not to keep reading. . .
Oh, I LOVE to be spoiled on stuff I haven't finished. It gives me a chance to judge the story in a test tube, so to speak, and decide whether I really should've taken the journey or not, you know?
Wow, congrats on the big 500! That's so many reviews; it's a real accomplishment! Great giveaway also!!
I answered "I don't care" because I think that if you can't finish it then you can't and I'm not going to judge...but I hope that for a book club selection, at least some extra effort is put into it than normal. If it's still not working, then chuck it.
So long as you keep the book *handy* until we have our discussion, I don't care if you don't finish it. It would be nice if you had it available so your attention could be called to points you might not have gotten to.
Beyond that, I won't hold you to a standard I don't hold myself to.
(Also, weird question, for you/anyone: Where do you buy books online? My Barnes and Noble membership is about to run out, and I'm wondering if I should renew.)
I buy my books online from The Book Depository. But I'm outside the US (in New Zealand) so their free shipping is what makes it affordable. Otherwise, I couldn't do it which would be very sad.
Thanks! The only thing I don't like about The Book Depository is that they're slow. (Spoiled US citizen here :) - Barnes and Noble shipping is just so fast and I'd rather pay a bit more, I think, than wait two weeks to get a book.)
See, for me, they're fast. If I buy from Amazon and want a vaguely affordable shipping rate, they want to send the books by a slow boat via China. Book Depository use airmail, so relatively speaking they are very speedy. I get a book from the UK to NZ in a week to 10 days.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, mostly I buy ebooks now. I get those straight away, regardless of where I buy them from.
