The cover drew me to this one, too, but I think I'm going to wait a bit to read it. Sometimes I reserve YA books for when I need to realign my reading schedule or get out of a slump. :)

Not a bad idea. :) I like having YA and UF on hand for when I really want quick reads I can easily devour.

I have no idea what a "hot posset" is. Am I showing my age/nationality? ;-)

Am kind of scared of reading this book, because I think it will affect me, and that it won't be the escapist read I'll need because it's hard dealing with psychological stuff...

I didn't know either. I think it may be a London thing? And if it's not, then I have no idea where the author came up with it. It sounds disgusting at first, but then it just starts sounding yummy. :)

I can't help you with psychological stuff, since I don't know your personal situation. But use your own judgment, and keep an eye out for other reviews. I know there's a handful of them on LibraryThing.

Patriarch's an alky. What another author would call a "functioning addict". There's a certain book that's just been released with a "functioning addict" as a protag. I'd be interested to read it because of the world-building, but I still believe there's nothing "pro" about addicts...

You've got me curious now: what book?

In the case of GLIMMERGLASS, it's the mother. And again, I can't say how closely the heroine's situation will reflect yours since I don't know your situation, and in addition, I've never had to deal with an addict of that sort, so I can't even relate on that level to the book and can't say whether Black's treatment was realistic or stereotyped.

Bummer! This has such a decent premise! :(

I agree, the cover art is absolutely gorgeous!

Great cover. I too am drawn because of it. Not sure about the rest of it though. Sounds kinda template-y to me, especially with all the Faerie themed YA books out there... is it at least humorous?

Ummm...nothing stood out as humorous to me, but I've got more of a cynical humor streak. But no, nothing humorous.
