While I enjoyed this one, I thought it lacked the punches that the first one showed. I wouldn't mind Luis myself but I didn't buy his relationship with Kitty. Or rather, I didn't think the relationship added to the plot. I think I would have preferred the more action oriented Kitty and the Midnight Hour which I thought was fabulous. I did like what she did with vampires in this book. But overall, I thought it was bogged down by unnecessary sub-plots.

I will certainly read the next book. I like the world.

Excellent review, by the way.

This book did feel a bit more...popularized, if that makes sense, but I can't help but get the feeling that Luis, as well as some other sub-plots, are set-ups for something bigger in the next book. But that's just me guessing. :)

Thanks!

My mother bought me the first one and I really liked it, I didn't realise it was by an Odd. alum.

You TOTALLY have to read this next one. I promise, it's a fast read, and with it being in Washington, you get to see zany politicians, and you meet more of Kitty's lawyer! :)

I guess your mom gets *some* things right. ;)

Ah, you've already finished it? I need to sit my butt down and devote a night to just reading!

Chapter 7...although I do have to agree with the first review. I gobbled up the first book in a day or two. This one hasn't grabbed my attention yet.

Yes, that's who I thought you meant. :)

I know she doesn't plan on writing Kitty books forever, so it'll be REALLY interesting to see how her style differs, if at all, when she writes a novel outside the Kitty universe. :)

Let me tell you what to expect:

KITTY GOES TO WASHINGTON is a wee bit more traditional when it comes to urban fantasy and paranormal romance, but it packs a really shocking moment at the end that I never saw coming.

KITTY TAKES A HOLIDAY shocked the hell out of me and really, really made me re-examine how characters and romances are handled in the genre, especially from a violence stand-point (and by violence, I'm not referring to romance, but rather character-actions).

KITTY AND THE SILVER BULLET, well, I've already told you it brings the series full circle in a good way, so that's all I'll say. :)

The fifth book is sadly the most stereotypical UF in the series, but like I said, book six makes up for it by continuing the story in a far more interesting way. Still, there are things about book five that make me grumble. :-/

Off to your response! :)

The violence has nothing to do with romance, but a character who uses violence to handle situations is basically . . . dealt with VERY REALISTICALLY in terms of how the real world works.

And the romance in that book? Is totally out of left field, but in a good way (and not related to the violence). :)
