Toppling the TBR PileI've noticed that I'm not the only book blogger who is bound and determined to strangle their book-buying habits and work on their TBR pile instead. In the past, working on the pile was difficult for me, because I based my reading habits on moods, which meant I let a LOT of certain genres pile up without a second glance. Now ( Read more... )

I too am far too fond of lists. I keep an annual book list, although now instead of date order, I arrange it by genre and alphabet. I did keep an entertainment list as well, but I tried to stop myself from doing it this year.

I don't have a specific TBR list (though I might make one now, muahaha). I recently moved 6,000 miles and most of my books were sold or donated to my local secondhand bookshop. But, I've inherited LOADS of books I haven't read because my husband has an extensive collection and he keeps buying more. So I'm trying to move through them, but I'm given myself some leniency. I'll more or less work alphabetically and bounce around genres (1 contemporary fiction, 1 sci fi, 1 fantasy, 1 classic, 1 nonfiction, etc) but I let myself go with the flow. I'm in a sci fi mood at the moment, so that's what I'm letting myself read. Last year I tried to get myself to read a set TBR list in order, but I couldn't do it. It was too regimented. I made it through 60% and then just started reading what I wanted.

My giant list of books read since 2007 is the first entry on this book blog, and I update it bi-weekly or so.

Oh, lists, they are so comforting. When I'm stressed out, I sit down and make a list and it calms me down.
