I love to hate Meyer's work, I really do. Maybe that in itself has become my guilty pleasure?

I didn't really think of the sex vs. love argument while I was reading the books but now you point it out it is pretty glaringly wrong. I had just chocked up Edward's insistence on marriage as another part of his "I'm stronger and smarter than you and I know what's best" attitude. That attitude is one of the main reasons I just can't buy Edward and Bella together. I don't see how they compliment each other despite their (huge, glaring) differences. Sure, almost all romances are about two unlike people (or creatures) struggling to be together despite the odds, but the self-absorbed, whiny, inept teenage and the hundred year old vampire? I don't get it.

I also thought it was funny you mentioned the vampires not sleeping, since it's something I considered in my twisting of vampire and werewolf mythology in my writing. It's interesting where some authors draw the line between supernatural and human. Personally I think Meyer's vamps are just plain odd. I mean, they sparkle, their skin is like stone (marble of course - which leads to some interesting questions regarding sex and other body functions), they only eat animals, and yet they go to high school and no one notices?

OK, enough ranting. Thanks for the review :)

You're welcome! I just started BREAKING DAWN too, so there will most likely be MORE rants in the very near-future. :)
