I picked this up at Borders a couple of weeks ago, stared and stared at it, but ended up putting it back. This review is still not helping me decide! Hmmmm. I guess one day I will read it.
I put NorseCODE on my TBR list after seeing how many people mention it on blogs. Honestly though, your review of the book is the most helpful one I've read. I dislike books with too many different POVs, and I don't visualize when I read so action-sequences tend to blur together.
As for the cover, the more I keep looking at the cover model's face, the stranger and incongruous the face.
Very interesting to read your review, especially since I'm midway through the process of writing my own -- actually a comparative review between Norse Code and ccfinlay's The Patriot Witch -- have you read it? I am too lazy to check your link

To answer your question, I haven't read the Finlay. I've considered it, but the subject matter honestly doesn't interest me, so I'd be going in with more or less a critical attitude, which doesn't bode well for the book in the end. I may change my mind later, but we'll see

I'm about to post a review. I think this is another one I liked better than you did, but I didn't read Santa Olivia first! :) I AM reading HUNTING GROUND at the same time though. Hmm! Anyway, I think it was a case of: seeing similar things you did but not minding as much. Although - I was actually very happy it was one book, just because there seem to be so few standalones in UF these days.
Agree with you *so much* on the cover. Every time I stared at it, my eyes would go down to the white space and I'd feel offended. What is up with that?
Let me ask you this: how familiar are you with Norse mythology?
And I can't remember: did you ever read SPIRAL HUNT?
I think earlier this year I was reading stuff that I would've liked better if I'd been in a different frame of mind. That said, I still stand by the reviews. :)
Not very familiar with Norse mythology. I was like: "What the eff is this Ragnarok these people keep talking about?"
I read SPIRAL HUNT. If I recall I had trouble getting into it, but once I did I ended up liking it. That one was celtic myths which I don't know too well either. I prob liked SPIRAL HUNT a bit better than NORSE CODE.. because.. more relationship-y/ character stuff and I like analyzing that kind of thing while I read.
