I know I haven't been posting a whole lot lately and partly the reason is because I've been watching a lot of baseball in that time. Primarily Dodgers games of course. Though I have also been watching other games in the National League when they've been televised or watching the updates vie the internet ( Read more... )

I've been looking forward to this time of the year ever since last October when our run ended at home against Philadelphia.

Most people don't ever figure the Dodgers to make it into the post season given the current roster at the beginning of this season. However, I watched, listened, received updates of most of the games and kept track of the players as much as I could since the 2007 season started.

I kept my eye on the young players and watched them develop and mature at a steady pace and always knew that Ethier would be fantastic. I loved how Kemp progressed rapidly and the fact that Martin and Loney take good care of the infield. Martin especially in handling our amazing pitching staff. When you have young arms like Kershaw, Billingsley, Broxton and the others both veteran and rookie in check to maintain the lowest ERA in the NL and the best bullpen in the Majors that speaks volumes.

Many people bash Colletti, but he made some key trades at the right moments and used a shrewd tact to negotiate the contracts needed to get the job done for a second consecutive NL West pennant.

Looking back to to the 2006 season and up to today. I knew that we would be here again and sitting on top. I didn't expect to have the best winning record and to me that's a delightful addition.

So with my expectation that the Dodgers would be in the post season spotlight again this year, (which is an honor that they most definitely deserve) I made it my intention to do my best to be there at the stadium to see everything unfold.

I'll be sharing the experience for Game 1 with my family. My parents, my son and myself will be there. On the following day it'll be myself and my son. I'm hoping that Thursday's game won't be an afternoon start. I won't know the time however until the outcome of today's Tigers @ Twins game and when the Yankees make their decision as to which day they want to begin post season play.

Anyway, I know I stretched this reply far beyond a simple response! I do wish that you could attend the game though. It will be a great time to say the very least. ^_^

I think we spoke (via LJ) about my first Playoff experience which was Last year Chicago Game 3. I loved every second of it. Even staying LATE LATE LATE after the game to see our heros come out to celebrate with us fans. (Though I was no where near the section the fans got to hi5 the players etc) It was so magical, some tears leaked from my eyes.

I don't know why ppl bash Colletti, though I know he doesn't do it alone. I am a BIG fan of Ms. Kim Ng and she does most renegotiations and the arbitrations. Luckily we didn't have any of the later last year.

Have fun on Wed. I'll be with you in spirit.

Oh yes, we have spoken about your Game 3 experience before. I only wish I would have stayed longer to watch the festivities ourselves. We weren't able to get either that night. My son and I sat up in the club seats in left field. We watched for a bit before heading back home. Seth always gets impatient to leave after ballgames, lol.

The talk is that they're considering extending Colletti's contract, but nobody is confirming that. Not management, Collettie or McCourt. Many Dodger fans are in an uproar saying that it will run the club if he stays. I just don't see why they believe such things. Sure Schmidt and Jones were disasters, but those blights hardly take away from the many important and key components he acquired to get us to three post seasons during his 4 year tenure. Sometimes I think people just like to lambaste someone as being responsible for their own frustration when a player performs badly. Perhaps they think they can better themselves.

My opinion is simple, I think Colletti made some poor choices, but also did the franchise right in other decisions. If he doesn't mind remaining one more year that would be fine with me. I feel they should turn the reigns over to Kim Ng as well. I think she definitely knows her position and has the ability to take it forward from there. It would be nice if she remained in the organization and took the mantle as the new GM.

Anyway, I do hope you enjoy watching the game "wherever you may be" as Scully says. ^_^
