This last week at work was kinda strange. Monday and Tuesday was like normal with the exception of preparing for Prof. DiBiasio's visit. Wednesday morning comes and I have to help direct Prof. D to the plant because he left his directions back in Worc. and only remembered part of them. But as soon as I get off the phone with him, I get another call. This time it was from the Pall sales rep. we're dealing with. We're trying to see if we can get a similar system in Fresno like they are installing Modesto. We come to an agreement maybe 8-10min in to our convo, but he continues talking. He wouldn't stop. After 20mins or so of mostly hearing him talk, I finally get off the phone with not much accomplshed with him. Now Brooks and I had to go track down Lupe because he was supposed to meet with Prof. D before our presentation. Lupe was no where to be found so we just stood around outside discussing stuff with Prof. D. 10:30 rolled around and Lupe was still no where to be found and we were supposed to present. Come to find out, Lupe was stuck in bed apparently pretty sick. Well the show must go on and Bill Stewart actually still provided us with a larger audience than we expected. We were only expecting to talk in front of no more than 5 people, but Bill had us speaking in front of 10 people who had no idea what our project was. The presentation went well and we were able to defend our project and answer all the questions thrown at us by the Gallo people. It was a good experience to be able to have an unexpected audience thrown at you and still be able to continue like normal. After hanging out and talking with Bill, Prof. D, and other Gallo people, Prof. D took us to lunch at Salazar's Grill. Not as good as being taken to dinner like the Modesto people, but it will do. Our advisors took us to dinner at the beginning so it's a wash. Prof. D gave us some pretty good advice about how to present at WPI and handling our project in general, we gave him a plant tour, and then he left to go back to Worc. So then we went back to work. I got to start playing with my press filter simulator. Or so I thought. The fittings just past the outlet of the pump started to leak. We were going to get that fixed the next morning. Wow, did that turn out to be a project in itself. The maintenance guy and I thought once we figured out where the leak was coming from we just replace that fitting and we would be all set. Nope. We wound up replacing all 4 fittings between the pump outlet and the pressure gauge before we got the leak to stop. Thursday and Friday the plant seemed dead. Nobody was around (inc. Lupe) and the people who were didn't seem like they were doing much. And Friday apparently was their yearly kickoff because their was a cookout and all the empolyees were at the morale-boosting speeches all day. Brooks and I experienced the 2006 Gallo Kickoff at the Livingston plant. Wow, was that boring. It was a very weird week.
