The WIP Fic Meme
Hmmmm~ A meme stolen from ad_exia.
When you see this, post a little weensy excerpt from as many random works-in-progress
as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something,
um, inspiriation-y.
I totally only picked six, because I literally have dozens of started fics and drabbles
lying around my hard drive.

1. It Froze Again (Legends of Zelda: Majora's Mask)
The first thing that Link noticed was that after a while, it got strangely quiet.
The birds had settled down, and the cows were no longer mooing in the barn. The
crickets and other insects that went around at night were absent, and the only
sound echoing through the ranch was the wind brushing the grass, and the occasional
sigh and murmur from someone inside the barn. Link wasn't aware he was listening for
something until he hear a soft sound - like a match, or the flicker of candle flame.
The jingle of glass and iron rose out of the stillness, and then Link heard the
distinct ripple of sound that was made when a poe appeared.
2. The Six Rule Game (Harry Potter, AU)
"However did you spot him?" Sirius wondered incredulously. The boy in
question was seated at the Gryffindor table, minding his own business and carefully
stirring his tea. "I don't think I've seen him before in my life."
Lucius snickered and filled their goblets. "Here I thought you prefered challenges...
I could pick someone else if you like."
"It's fine," Sirius said quickly, sparing him an annoyed glance. "You could have
picked worse subjects, I'm sure."
3. Dating His Sister (Prince of Tennis)
From where he's standing, Yuushi can see a pretty set of pearl earrings inside a
small velvet box. He's shocked; Gakuto generally found gift-giving to be a tedious
exercise limited to holidays and birthdays.
They kiss, and Yuushi suppresses an unjustified urge to cry.
4. Untitled (currently referred to as Jinkaru) - (Prince of Tennis, AU, XP verse)
"I will answer your questions," he said to me, eyes twinkling as he examined my
surprised face. I had not expected him to agree to an interview. It was rare that
this voice actor would give anything more than a laugh and a joke. I immediately
turned on the tape recorder and gave our names, time and date. He laughed at my
eagerness - more of a fond action than a mocking one, and offered to buy dessert
at a nearby cafe.
5. Knocked Aside (Harry Potter - for rarepair_shorts)
Remus counts aloud, in the spaces where he knows he should hear his heart pounding
in his ears. In the roar of the crowd and the rushing rain, everything is lost;
even his fingers, icy cold and tightly gripped around the side of the stadium railing,
are numb, holding him in place between Peter and a girl whose name he doesn't know.
Lightning flashes and lights the sky. A small, dark blob is falling, knocked from
a broom amidst the clouds. It's uncertain who it is - some say it's James, whose
ego and natural talent has finally failed him. Others say Slytherin, and don't
care which one could be dropping.
6. Parlors and Spades (Harry Potter, for barefootboys)
Sirius kneels in the dirt beside him, lifting his robes so he can rest properly,
before dropping the silk across the ground. He leans over and presses his fingers
into the soil around the tomatoes. He hums a soft tune, crumbling a clump of dirt
in his hands, before looking up at Remus.
"It needs water," Remus murmurs, wiping his forehead with the back of one hand.
