Weekending in Norfolk

May 24, 2010 18:34

Mister Husband and I went up to Norfolk this past weekend with his brothers and parents to visit his mum's mum (what a cumbersome sentence!). I love the English countryside; hedgerows, cottages with leaded windows and thatched roofs, black oaks, rippling fields. We visited a few gardens near Norwich and Roxham, and walked in the woods (which were absolutely carpeted with bluebells).

A path leading into the woods with said bluebells.

Wisteria (a favourite of mine) winding up and around a stone arch.

The English definitely know how to do gardens.

This picture has not been saturated. Those are the actual colours.

The Husband's parents. They recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary!

My youngest brother-in-law, Nathaniel, by the eelman's cottage.

Curious stores in the eelman's cottage.

Yours truly seeking shade under a tree.

My cute husband during a tea break. He is naturally that rosy.

Seeking shade again. This time, in cathedral ruins.

My other brother-in-law, James, having tea.

A lovely twisted tree.

Bats!

So glad to be out of the sun.

Nat being awesome.

Phil gets more handsome by the second.

Nat cooling off.

All of us! I braved direct sunlight for this picture.

It was a gorgeous weekend. The only problem was that we all underestimated the weather. I left my parasol in London, and ended up suffering from heat exhaustion despite staying in the shade as much as possible. I don't deal well with sunlight and warm weather. It actually makes me physically ill. This includes migraines, fainting, and nausea. So, I've had to stay at home today, and skip my weekly Hebrew class. I'm not happy about it, but I guess I learned my lesson: I can't handle warm weather and sunshine like most people.
