For children, it's usually the dressing up and the candy.

For adults, it's usually dressing up and the parties.

It's mostly the passing on of a tradition.

To celebrate the realm of the dead and the spiritual, originally. But it's become more of a time to celebrate that it's fun to be scared once in a while.
