Some curses are like that. They can be nothing, or they can be terrible. But those killed during a curse don't die in the true sense, they can still come back.

I am currently trying to find a place to keep my clothing and equipment... I would sleep in the forest, but I don't wish to be so near to Ophelia.

Hm. Well there are apartments about. You could also stay here at the temple, if you wanted. Free room and food, but you'd have to work.
