I wish I had the energy to write my full Supernatural 4.17 ep review.

Seriously, the show just left me with this amazing feeling. And then I think of the drama and Dean/Cas goodness that was last week and it's insane how two such different eps can have me in love with the tone--looking at the endings alone, how do I love them both so much?

Not even writing the review yet, but I need to make notes to myself just to remember what I want to talk about tomorrow.  Mostly my renewed love of Sam, motivational speeches, the AU fanfic-ness of the episode, and why I'm cool with who gave the motivation and who didn't.  Cut for spoilers in case anyone F-listed me and hasn't seen the ep.

Sam.  Oh my...Sam.  I can't remember ever not being massively drawn to Dean, but today just brought out so much Sam love it'll probably what I talk about most of all.  The way he said "vampires" on the elevator, his face when all that blood splattered him, the way he wanted Dean to take off and go hunting with him, the way he went Office Space on the phone, "Did you just call me 'Sammy'?"...see, I'd be here all night.

Zachariah.  I like.  I like the actor, I like what he had to say.  Even spoiled, I didn't realize it was an angel that put the boys there until he touched Dean's head and we got "What the hell?  Why am I wearing a tie?  My God am I hungry."  It made total sense as soon as I realized it was an angel--reaffirm why Dean was doing this (and now that I think about it, there could have been a nice moment for Sam to remember what it was to hunt the way they did before the demon power thing became such a big part of the equation, but I'm guessing they don't want to deal with Sam's motivations right now).  They're hunters because it's who they are, wouldn't be happy doing anything else.  I loved that.  And I had to transcribe that kickass motivational speech from Zachariah:

Most folks live and die without moving anything more than the dirt it takes to bury them, you get to change things, save people, maybe even the world-all the while you drive a classic car and fornicate with women.  This isn’t a curse, it’s a gift, so for God’s sakes, Dean, quit whining about it.  Look around, there are plenty of fates worse than yours. So, you with me?  You wanna go steam yourself another latte? Or are you ready to stand up and be who you really are?

The Dean/Castiel shipper in me of course wishes it were Cas who got to motivate Dean and get him back into the fight, but I can't be mad at their use of this new angel as it worked really well--and we did get a nice Cas mention as we learn that Zachariah is his superior (I'll tell myself that Cas didn't want to dick around with Dean's memories and his feelings for Dean once again had his sympathies being questioned.)

Bob, Ellen and Jo are Dean's family?  Sam was engaged to werewolf Madison and her phone number was to an animal clinic?  Dudes came over to LJ for research on that stuff, lol.  Seriously, if there's not some AU fic about Dean Smith and Sam Wesson over the next week then I don't know what's going on.
