To start good habits

So I went to the gym today. I had the day off from work as compensation for working a night shift last night, and the gym was almost empty at 2 pm when I got there. First time I went there - a nice place within walking distance both from home and from work. Besides the gym their big attraction is a huge indoor climbing wall, which I might try sometime, if I can get rid of the gut that is jutting out so bad it's painfully obvious that it would be an obstacle when trying to climb a completely vertical wall.

Otherwise, this is typical of many previous attempts of mine - enthusiastic about doing something that is good for me (like dieting, or in this case, exercising), but once I've actually done it, payoff is so slow that it's hard to stay motivated. We'll see how it goes this time. I've already "paid" for it by using up the company fitness subsidy, so I figure I might as well get the most out of it.

Discipline. That's what it's all about. Why is it that I don't have that? I'll have to ask the hippy mother and father.

fitness, health, work
