So Character Options has an EXCITING NEW ROUND of classic Who toys coming out, and by exciting I mean that I'm not quite so annoyed at them as usual. NOT A HINT OF HINCHCLIFFE for a start. AMAZING.
Here's what's coming out:
The First Doctor's Enemies
I'll probably remember something properly awesome as soon as I've posted this, but the sad fact is I can't think of any First Doctor monsters that I'm absolutely desperate to see in minature plastic form, so on that basis I can't be terribly disappointed with this set. Even though I suspect that Robodude is NOT in Dalek Invasion of Earth but to save some money Character Options have just made it Some Generic Guy wearing the Robodude costume. The Mondas Cyberman looks awesome though. LOOK AT HIS WEE HUMAN HANDS. And if you have to release Yet Another Fucking Dalek, having it be one that only appears in episodes that don't exist anymore is HILARIOUS.
The Third Doctor's Enemies
Third Doctor? THIRD? WHERE'S MY TROUGHT SET? WHERE'S MY BLOODY QUARK?
Other than that though, I freakin love this one. Classy Auton figure, awesomely classy Omega figure and OMG A DRASHIG LOLS! And you can even use it as a handpupper if you have tiny wee hands! JUST LIKE THE REAL DRASHIGS! Not the alien Drashigs - those are fictional - the props I mean, for they were puppets.
I also love that the Drashigs are getting a release when SOME PEOPLE like to think of them as the Carnival of Monsters equivalent of Talons' Giant Rat. WHICH THEY ARE. BUT NOT IN THE INSULTING WAY THAT IS MEANT. Best thing about their respective stories, dammit.
City of Death
WHERE IS ROMANA FFS? Though almost making up for that fact, and indeed the absence of lovely Duggan, is that Julian Glover's face comes off to reveal SCAROTH LAST OF THE JAGAROTH. Lols.
Invasion of Time
WHY? WORST SONTARANS EVER. You might as well release some bloody TIN FOIL Vardans, I'd be more excited. Also, don't hurt me, but I'm not vastly taken with Leela, so am tots bitter she's getting another figure. I like the Demat gun though. I am sad enough I'd buy it just for that and give it to the Delgado!Master figure and then Three would be all "wtf?" And the Master would be "lols I went to your future and nicked this superweapon THAT YOU MADE DOCTOR. WHAT HAVE YOU BECOME?" And Three would be all "OH NOES "and it would be great.
The Chase
I don't even care that there are MORE DALEKS OH GOD WHY STOP WITH THE DALEKS, because that is a MECHANOID DUDE. And MECHANOIDS ARE AWESOME.
In conclusion, Character Options should quit releasing stuff I'm not thrilled with and start releasing stuff I'd like. Also, since every time a new release gets announced, I do basically bitch about it, I'm going to make a list of all the things I would TOTALLY LOVE and not complain about even a little:
Harry and Giant Clam - well obviously. Also I would send them a lovely letter, and get other people to do so and they would be OVERWHELMED WITH LOVE AT THEIR EXCELLENT BUSINESS CHOICES.
Romana, any of her. Probs not Nightmare of Eden though, cause that was a terrible costume.
