This is brilliant. Just brilliant. River as Schrodinger's cat. And maybe the Doctor is too. I adore that idea. This was so beautiful. The prose. The concept.

Is it insanity? Is it imagination? Is it desperation? Is it real? Is it all fake?

And does the answer matter nearly as much as the question?

And this line: There are so many questions she’d like to ask, but she’s afraid the answers will change.

Wow, just brilliant. Time can be rewritten. So can truth. And like the box with the cat and unanswered question, maybe they are biggest, they are greatest when you don't open that box, when you don't have one answer. The unfettered mind. Thought. Pure story. Like River Song. Like the Doctor.

There was such beautiful imagery in here. An example: "She has seen the Doctor’s first and true name spelt out in starlight and she said it, once, a very, very long time ago. She doesn’t remember what happened afterwards and she is certain she doesn’t want to." Beautiful.

And then there were parts of this that was just like poetry. Like this bit:
And outside,
something
looks in

And these two ending lines:
"There is a story and there is a lie and she is somewhere in-between.

Nothing has changed."

That so perfectly links this AU into canon in such a way that it's relevant to the show and the characters. Such a clever line for an AU, "Nothing has changed."

This was gorgeous. I adored it.

they are greatest when you don't open that box, when you don't have one answer.
