Am reading a fantasy novel at the mo that is not all that bad (I can't remember the last time I read beyond the first book in a fantasy trilogy - I like all the world-building stuff but the characters never seem to interest me enough to want to find out what happens to them, anyway -) and such but the island it's set on is called Acacia. And for me Acacia means Acacia Avenue. Where Eric lives. Eric, who, when he eats a banana, becomes Bananaman, ever alert for the call to action!

Yeah, so that's kind of killing the epic heroic-y mood.

Also that thing that annoyed me in Torchwood Day 3, I think, I take back cause Bridget's jealousy (or annoyance or however you choose to read it) at Lois' bluff that she's having an affair with Frobisher isn't just irritatingly random but built the foundation for her motivation (I think she fancied him initially, maybe did have an affair back in the day, but the most important part was her admiration for him, and she wasn't happy about anything that meant she had to acknowledge his flaws) to what I thought was the most satisfying part of the conclusion - Bridget turning around to the PM and saying actually, no, been recording you and you're not going to get away with this.

I love Bridget. I love that she was quietly in the background forever and that even the bit that initially annoyed wasn't gratuitous cliche but part of the nifty set-up where she gets two fantastic scenes in the last episode for her character to blossom.

Still annoyed Lois never got any sort of conclusion/fairwell scene though.
