HAPPENINGS

So, the last few weeks have been quickly moving by.  I feel like I have accomplished a lot, but know I have a lot to learn.  But, this is ok.  I like learning new things, and my professor says he has quite a lot to put on my plate when I am ready.  I have been working a lot with Linux, writing some of my own shell scripts, perl scripts, and the like in attempts to understand how to process meteorological data.  It's been fun thus far, and I am looking forward to accomplishing more in the coming weeks.

As for the missed PSG, it really has not affected me this year.  I have missed PSG one other time before, so I knew I would make it ok this time.  Not to mention, I know that I am much more closely attached to the land of Wisteria than of the festival itself.  I miss the fellowship with some that I do not see often enough, and this is sad.  But, PSGs since have NEVER matched my first experience, and I felt like the event was becoming more of an obstacle to make happen rather than an escape.  Not to mention, as much as the administrators and others want to label it DRAMA, the bottom line is for a festival to continue to grow, it must nurture those that contribute to its survival.  This is something that I, me...not just murmur from others...have witnessed as a participant in the event.

On a similar note, I have never contributed greatly to the functionality of PSG, but have tried to become more involved with the Weather Collective.  However, I feel those at the center of this 'group' see things much differently than I.  When dealing with the weather collective, I purposed three pillars 1. )Serve our community, 2.) Educate our community about weather, and 3.) Connect to the land of Wisteria.  By serving our community, we (those who feel their connection to Divine through weather) bear the responsibility of our community through Sacrifice (for protection from harm).  We must help others understand the raw nature of weather and its elements as well as use whatever means necessary to alert the community of approaching danger (radar, NOAA weather radios).  Finally, by connecting with the land and Her spirits, we ensure our voices are heard through reciprocity!  I just wish others in the collective felt a little of this responsibility.  Instead, a twirl of the wrist and a swisssssshhhhh is all that is necessary?

Well, with that said, I am saddened by the inability to attend Cornstalk festival.  We were looking forward to this, but I cannot miss work.  However, with my trip to Taiwan and FaerieCon in October to see Omnia, things look pretty busy in the fall.  Also, Autumn Fires is a possibility so I am holding out hope I will still make it to Wisteria this year.
