I've been muddling my way through the American military ranking system and was wondering if anyone could help me with some questions I have.
In regards to the difference between commissioned officers and non commissioned officers, are NCOs always of less authority? So does a second Lieutenant have more authority than a Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps?
