after three years of living in non-allston bliss, i have finally uncovered a downside to living in brookline: jury duty. because of my fancy-pantsing predecessors' need to distinguish the town as so distinctively "not boston" and zone us into another county, i was called out to dedham at the end of this month. one phonecall managed to transfer me to their lone t-accessible courthouse in quincy, but this is still a major pain in my ass. the thought of trekking out there for a 7 am start time - even just once - forces me to examine the merits of lying on my juror profile. one has to wonder exactly how much they scrutinize your answers for, say, information relevant to one's ability to be an impartial juror. you don't suppose that i'd have to personally back up exclamations of "david koresh rulzz" or "KKK-4EVA", do you?
not that i'd do that. just sayin.
