Scarcity of original source material aside, I've always found the development of the sword and its tactical and cultural significance an intriguing subject.

More wars have been fought with swords than any other weapon.

I wish I'd written mine on something like that, rather than the Industrial Revolution.

Yes, and for most of documented history there is ample material available for research, but particular cultures and periods have left little but the physical evidence of the weapons themselves behind.

What made you choose that topic? If I may ask?

If I could arrange it, would you be interested in attending an archaeological dig for such objects in the time period?

Well, at the time, I was young and naive and thought it an interesting subject. Now I'm old and wiser and know that it is deeply, deeply boring.
