118 Near Disasters
You worry so much about Cal. What about Promise? What about Robin and Ishiah? Georgina? Delilah? Are they any safer than him? What if the Auphe aren't just waiting on your roof? Cal can't possibly sense all of them. They could have opened gates to every person who's ever given you aid. Do you know how many Auphe are still alive? How can you really tell? You couldn't before. You were too busy soaking your hands in your brother's blood.
Not that anything I say matters. If we're practical, we'll recognize that nothing I tell you now will make a difference. You won't remember any of this when you go home--assuming that you do go home. You did a fine job of almost robbing yourself of the privilege last weekend. The man who stood against Sawney Beane and Abbagor and the Hobgoblin and the Kin and the hordes of the Auphe, brought down by the simple union of a virus and bacteria.
