Team GP W L T GF GA GD Pts. SVN 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3 USA 1 0 0 1 1 1 0 1 ENG 1 0 0 1 1 1 0 1 ALG 1 0 1 0 0 1 -1 0
So, the country of SVN... (uh... yeah... I'll look that up later...) is leading our division 'cuz they actually won a game, and got 3 pts, whereas, the US and the UK tied, and are tied at 1 pt, and Algieria is last...
So after 2 more matches a "Division Winner" will advance. Err, no... It's first place and second place... go to the "Sweet 16" err uh the "Round of 16." What happens if US and UK stay tied at 2nd place? A Horn Off? Sudden Death Match?
After considering things for an hour, World Cup, I think I like the tournament bracket thing. As opposed to the NCAA Basketball scenario where underdogs can beat and then advance on higher ranked opponents, your point system, and multiple match setup is designed to allow the best team(s) to advance. Nice. I get it now. It takes away a little drama, but for a true World Tournament, it's a more precise system.
I take it all back...
Thanks for listening World Cup, I appreciate your patience on this...
Now wouldn't that have been easier if you just ignored it like I do? The only interesting thing I've seen come from it are those Vusivilev thingies that make noise.
I went to US Soccer and found this:
Team GP W L T GF GA GD Pts.
SVN 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
USA 1 0 0 1 1 1 0 1
ENG 1 0 0 1 1 1 0 1
ALG 1 0 1 0 0 1 -1 0
