I'm going to try to switch to a mostly vegetarian/pescetarian diet from now on. ( (the rest is a rant / disgusting story. read at your own risk. seriously. and definitely don't read this if you're eating.) )

I KNOW!! I wish I meant centimeters but no, it was inches. This thing was ENORMOUS. David described it as some sort of primordial dinosaur worm. GROSS!! I haven't taken it back yet -- I just wrapped it back up and put it in a grocery bag in the freezer (I was just going to throw it away, but realized it was a week away from garbage night and I did NOT want that thing sitting out in the trash for that long.) Normally I would take it back, but I just don't want to have anything more to do with it, you know? Guh. I dunno - I have until Thursday (garbage day!) to decide, I guess!

The veggie thing is going well so far - I mean, it's only been a couple days, but I feel good about it. It's forcing me to be more creative in my cooking, which is something I always WANT and ENJOY to do, but which is often thwarted by my inertia when I get home from work. I think one saving grace is going to be those jarred Indian cooking sauces - they are SO good and flavorful, and you can just throw any old veggies in with some chickpeas or beans and have a killer meal, with leftovers for lunch. So yummy! I have a humongous bible of a vegetarian cookbook, too, which I think will be getting more use now. I'll have to start soliciting my vegetarian friends for their favorite recipes. And also, I'll have to be vigilant about NOT just eating mac and cheese everyday, which I could TOTALLY do. Mmmmm, mac and cheese...

I know what you mean about just not wanting to have anything else to do with it. Because if you take it back you'll actually have to talk about it. On the other hand, they sold you meat with a giant dinosaur worm in it! That would make me so mad. I think you should take it back and demand like a gift card to there. Something more than just getting the price of the chicken back. I mean, that is just unacceptable. Gross.

I'm glad the vegetarian thing is working out well so far!! :) When you come home in March you should totally cook for me. Hehehe, ok, maybe not. I don't want to put you to work. But eventually we'll have to think up fun veggie recipes. I'd like to eat more like that too. And I hear you on the Indian sauces! Yum!
