When we were about to leave for the party, I took the tart out of the fridge and put it on a serving plate. Not wanting to spill it or get schmutz on it, I thought I'd better cover it loosely with some cling wrap. Bad move ( Read more... )

Heheh, I agree with Susan. I'm sorry things went awry, but at the same time, you can look back (much) later and laugh about it.

I've always said Martha Stewart is the devil. Heh.

Ok, and after I've since gone back and read all about you making this thing...between the sour cream lumps and salty crust, maybe it's better that this thing never made it to anyone's plates. Sounds like it LOOKED lovely though! Next time I know you'll wow 'em. Next time just stick to one of your tried and true recipes! You have SO many that you make so well.

heh heh, yeah. although we didn't bring it to the party, we kept the monstrosity in the fridge and today I had a piece. It wasn't half bad, but there are SO many better recipes out there. Damn Martha.

Speaking of good recipes, I need you to give me the recipe for that fruit tart that we used to make. I totally don't know where I put the recipe. If you have it somewhere I'd love to get it again! Maybe I'll make it this summer sometime. :)

You know, I don't think I ever really used a recipe for that... what I would do is make a regular tart crust (you can find an easy recipe in any cookbook, or just use a graham cracker crust). Then for the filling, I would whip one brick of room-temp cream cheese with some sugar and vanilla (I don't remember the proportions - maybe 3/4 c sugar, 1 t vanilla, or to taste). In another bowl, I'd whip up a cup of heavy cream, then fold it into the cream cheese mixture, put it all in the crust. Top with sliced fruit or berries. Melt a few tablespoons of raspberry (or whatever flavor) jam in the microwave with a bit of water until it's melted, brush on top of the fruit, and done!

Mmmm, this makes me want delicious fruit tart! So yummy :)
