This week has been a turning point in my job hunt (I hope). I had a couple phone interviews on Monday, and an in-person interview yesterday, which went really well. I also have two interviews scheduled for next week, and I have a bunch of other promising leads on applications. When it rains it pours, I guess. Of course, I haven't had any offers so I'm trying not to get my hopes up -- as I've mentioned before, I have a tendancy to have *great* interviews that lead NOWHERE. Ugh.
I've been trying to keep busy -- I helped out my sister's museum with a grant proposal they needed, which was kinda fun. I hope they get funded because then I can say I have "proven grant-writing experience." Ha. The busier I am, the better... but I'm starting to really feel burned out by this whole job hunt process.
Keiko our parakeet is doing splendidly. He's definitely gotten comfortable with us, and can be quite chatty at times (especially when we're trying to sleep in). He's just so darn cute, and has a distinct personality which is cool.
I watched the movie "Saw" today... I liked it up until the end, which was very disturbing. I mean, the whole thing is disturbing, but that ending.. MAN. Not what I was expecting or hoping! Dave had rented all 3 Saw movies to have a marathon (which I did NOT attend) with our friend John, and had said the first one was good. So I decided to watch it before they had to be returned, with the thought that if I liked it, I might watch the other two. Yeah, NO. ::shudder:: Maybe I'm just getting lily-livered in my old age, but that movie kinda freaked me out. Note to Susan: do NOT watch it.
My concert for the Bach Choir is coming up in a few weeks, and I think it's going to be really good. I heart Leonard Bernstein!! He's so super. I must admit that I was a little worried about whether we could pull this piece (Bernstein's Mass) off when we first started rehearsing, but it's starting to shape up and I think it will be a great concert experience. Unfortunately, we're not going to get to rehease with the orchestra, soloists and other choruses until the week of the concert, so it's hard to get a good sense of how everything will come together.
One more thing -- I made something delicious for dinner which I must share with you all. First, I roasted some asparagus with some olive oil, salt and pepper in a hot (450) oven for about 15 minutes (I actually put some canned artichoke hearts on there too, but I think they were more of a distraction than anything else in the final dish). While that was in the oven, I cooked some bowtie pasta. I mixed a small log of chevre cheese with 3T of butter and about 1/2 cup of the hot pasta water until it created a melty, creamy sauce. I tossed everything together with some salt and pepper, and VOILA! It was soooo good and quick -- and veggie for you non-meat-eaters out there. YUM.
Now, to finish my wine, read a bit, and go to sleeeeeep.
