It takes yet another obsession to make me de-lurk, and JESUS have I got a new obsession for you.
What can I say? This week has been... this week has been basically long dull intermissions between viewings of X-Men: First Class, Lol. I officially have a new slash-pairing, and it has TAKEN OVER MY BRAIN.
Today brought the total of times I have seen the film up to four (this week) and I hope to go again!
How to describe this ship. It's... ach. mein gott... the Bromance/chemistry is so acute, it's almost beyond anything I've ever seen before (Yes, even Supernatural and Merlin. It's THAT GOOD!) And, not to disparage all my other loves, but I've never seen bromance being acted out by actors of such talent and stature as James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. I've been a fan of McAvoy's for a while (since he turned up in this crappy grim little dark-sitcom set in a pub, used to be on BBC. Closing Time, I think it was called). He has such humanity, when he acts. I can't think of any better way to say it than that. And as for Fassbender, well, I've known his face if not his name for a long time, and always had my interest piqued whenever he turned up in something. (Like 300. He's the reason I bothered to watch that, lol.) But, put the two together, and it's... well, breath-taking, actually.
Tonight, in the cinema, as I was re-watching one of the best parts of the film, I looked down and realised I could actually see the goosebumps on my arm, even in the dark.
Seriously. If there's anybody out there, reading this, who hasn't yet seen this film, GET GOING.
If you're a shipper at heart like me you will EAT IT UP, believe me. [At one point, the two gorgeous guys share a bed, and apparently things got so very fucking kinky during filming that cross-dressing happened. ^_^]
Favourite lines from the film, just to get you started:
Erik: What an adorable lab-rat you make, Charles.
Charles: There's so much more to you than you know. Not just pain and anger. There's good, too - I felt it.
And, of course, like all good ships, the actors playing the couple have INCREDIBLE chemistry in real life, too. In fact, look what was said when The Daily Telegraph asked James about it:
For the record, James McAvoy would have preferred it if Xavier and Magneto stayed together. Like, really together.
"It is a little bit of a mini-tragedy that him and Magneto don't, you know, have sex and become married and become best friends."
Oy.Vey.
Need I go on, girls?
Well, I'm going to anyway, because not only have I gif-d a couple of my favourite bits, but those DEMN pesky plot-fic-bunnies have started a'hopping, once more. So here goes...

[X-Men: First Class - Scene: Satellite of Love]
*will eta with fic-idea once I've finalised it*
I REALLY hope there's someone out there on my flist who's in the same boat as me: absolutely raving madly in love with this new pairing, and in the mood to squee about it. I could talk Charles & Erik till the mutant-cows come home! ^_^
