*is currently shaking with laughter* Okay, I'm aware that it's very late, and this might just be an example of midnight-magic thinking that turns to shit in the morning, but- OMG- I have just had THE CRACKIEST idea for a Merlin cross-over! XD [Yeah, yeah, I know, 'shut up with these already' but really! read on!]
Fellow Brits: did anyone else ever see that kid's show on ITV, Sir Gadabout?? *snorts* IMAGINE THE POSSIBILTIES! ^_^ I just did a quick google-search on it and came up with synopsis for one of the books that apparently inspired it, and imagining our-Merlin et al in this scenario was so preposterously absurd it had me in sitches:
Sir Gadabout Goes Barking Mad
The Magic World Cup is on - and its the talk of the town. Sir Gadabout is sent to escort Merlin - the reigning world champion - to the competition, but they are waylaid by evil magicians. The Worst Knight in the World is convinced that the great magician has been turned into a dog - and that the unfortunate mutt is trying to talk to him. While Merlin wreaks havoc at a prize vegetable competition instead, Sir Gads is left to impersonate Merlin at the Magic World Cup - with hilarious consequences ...
XDDD *falls about laughing* ROFL!! Oh, Merlin, you and your amusingly shaped vegetables... ^_^
Meet Sir Gadabout:
He's an accident waiting to happen. He's a good man - but clumsy, and not very bright. He's rubbish with a sword, and bravely blunders from calamity to crisis via catastrophe. What a guy!
Sir Gadabout is a Knight of the Round Table. With his fellow knights they strive to protect the honor of Camelot and their eccentric Brummie King, Arthur XXXII. Beyond Camelot lies an ominous claw-shaped castle, home to Sir Rancid and his Nanny, a somewhat gruesome twosome who scheme and dream of Camelot’s downfall.
Then there's beautiful Princess Elenora. She's sick of her daily routine of tapestry and lute lessons and longs to be a true knight. So when trouble strikes, she secretly dons a mysterious silver suit of armour and appears as the enigmatic Sir Knight, fighting off the enemy with style and grace!
Amongst Sir Knight's many admirers is Sir Gadabout’s squire, Will - who has dreams of becoming a knight himself some day. As chemistry develops between Will and Elenora's alter ego, she becomes torn, unable to reveal her secret identity to the one person she comes to trust more and more. Only Merlin the Wizard, knows her secret. Having sworn never to practice magic again after a terrible accident and reckoning science is safer, Merlin is obsessed by discovering the secret of man powered flight. But his outlandish flying machines invariably get no further than Camelot’s moat
[SEE!!? EVEN THE KIDDIE-VERSIONS ARE BROMANTIC! ^_^]
Har... the idea of a flying-obsessed Merlin... kind reminds me of that mad don character in that awful Young Sherlock Holmes movie- *realises she's showing too many of her geek cards*
Ahem. Yes. Well. What that blurb doesn't mention are the FANTASTIC choice of names for the secondary characters - the Knights of Arthur's round table include such belters as: Sir Real [his standard is a fish XXD], Sir Jestion, Sir Prano [think Sir Robin from Monty Python and the Holy Grail], Sir Tificate, Sir Prise [the foreign exchange knight from Japan] and Sir Spicious [that new-guy who keeps twirling his moustache.] XXD (As you can perhaps tell, I have a bit of a soft-spot for this show. Used to be on when I got in from [school? college? can't remember] Only saw it a coupla times, but something must have stuck, for me to remember it all of a sudden, now! ^_^')
