Continuing the Merlin Fanfic!Blabla - Crossover Ideas. . .
Okay, first off: thank you to seelentherapie , kathkin and vensre for replying in the original thing there and keeping my plot!bunnies fed. Very good of y'all to humour me! ^_^

It's another juicy geek question to any Harry Potter / Merlin fans who happen by, about that hypothetical Goblet of Fire crossover I was going on about. . .
I hope someone new will see this and I can continue this fan!cestuous line of nonsense reasoning and maybe in the process find a new!lj-buddy or 2! ^_^
To explain a bit: In the spirit of Fandom!zealous Overkill, yesterday I went and reread Goblet of Fire - just to jog my memory. What I had totally forgotten was Ron's initial reaction to Harry being picked as the 4th Triwizard Champion [eg., the jealousy.]
So that got me thinking: In a Merlin-meets-GoF scenario, fellow fans, do you think it would be best to have both Arthur and Merlin as Champions, OR, would it be more interesting to have Merlin be the one who's chosen, and Arthur has to deal with/get over some unfamiliar feelings of Jealousy [before he falls back into fangirling again? ^_^]
Part of me really recoils from the idea of -not- having Arthur as Champion, since it would mean you cut out the time he and Merlin would spend together, during tasks... but: the tasks themselves actually take up v. little space - Cedric and Harry don't spend a lot of actual time together at all, so maybe it's not that great a loss. And it was Cedric who was picked in the original, so maybe someone like Lancelot would be the more appropriate choice for champion than Arthur [which would also tally nicely w/ canon, if you think of Gwen as Cho to Arthur's Harry. ^_^]
I dunno. I guess a little bit of conflict between Merthur would add some spice to the story [how often do you see Inferior!Arthur in anything, eh?] and would make the UST even more satisfying when they finally reunite. ^_^ [Plus, it could key into the whole King Arthur!Destiny thing, w/ Merlin telling Arthur that he will be Great one day, he's just not there yet.]
And, as a follow-up: which do Merlin-fans prefer - Season 1 OTP4 of Arthur, Merlin, Gwen and still-good-Morgana, or the current OTP3 of A/M/G and Morgana's become a pantomime villain? ^_^'
Or, to put it another way: what would work best when transferring Merlin to HP?
[Because I, personally, can SO see Morgana as a slimely Slytherin thorn in Arthur's side. But if she was still good/only just on the turn, as it were, I could equally see her as her old principled self being in one of the other houses.]
Big suspenseful pause: SO. What do YOU think, general public-dom?? I know it sounds daft, lol, but I honestly want to know!
