“I’m in the shower,” Chris called, his voice muffled by the door. “I’ll be out in a minute.”
“Take your time,” Blake told him, smiling at the sound of Chris’ voice. The one sound that could make him smile no matter how he was feeling.
Chris walked out of the shower, clad in nothing but a towel. Looking at the sight on the bed, he sighed, walking over to the dresser to find some clothes.
“Aww, baby. You don’t need to get dressed,” Blake said, getting up from the bed. He walked over to Chris and wrapped his arms around the taller man. “Just let me get dressed,” Chris told him, placing his hands on Blake’s.
Blake pouted, but reluctantly took his arms away from Chris. “Whatever you want.” He slowly walked over to the bed, sitting down on it, staring at Chris’ back.
“Saw the show tonight,” Chris said, knowing that’ll perk Blake up. “Really? What did you think of it?” Blake asked, practically bouncing on the bed.
Chris walked over to him, now fully clothed, and sat down next to him. He draped an arm across Blake’s shoulder, pulling him. He kissed the older man’s forehead and smiled, “You did a wonderful job.” Blake smiled in return.
“You really think so?” Chris nodded. Blake hopped up from the bed. “Let’s go out and celebrate then!”
“Why?” “It’s New Years, it’s 2008! This is what you’re supposed to do!” Blake told him, grabbing for his hands to pull him up.
“Let’s just stay in Blake,” Chris said, lying down on the bed. “I don’t really want to go out.”
“Aww, c’mon Chris. We’re in Times Square! When are we going to get the chance to do this again?”Blake asked, getting on the bed, sitting next to Chris. “We haven’t been together in months. I wanted tonight to be something amazing and special,” Blake told him, staring absently at the wall.
Chris rolled his eyes. He knew Blake would act like this. New Year isn’t one of Blake’s favorite holidays. He couldn’t obviously tell that Blake had been drinking before returning to the hotel. He didn’t want to have to deal with Blake getting even more excited.
“Chris, we should go out. Dance, karaoke, anything,” Blake pleaded. “I really want to spend time with you. It’s New Years. The one holiday where you can get completely shit-faced and no one would give a damn!”
“Blake, you’re obviously drunk, first of all, so, I’m not going to go out with you acting like that,” Chris began. Blake could tell Chris was getting aggravated. Blake looked away from him, hiding the tears that were getting ready to fall. “I know you want to spend time with me, why can’t we do it here, in the hotel?” Chris asked.
He got up from his spot and moved towards Blake, turning him around. He saw the tears in Blake’s eyes and pulled the shorter man to him, embracing him with every bit that he had.
“You know I love you Blake, so, why don’t we make our first New Years together a happy and one to remember,” Chris told him, hoping that Blake would calm down.
Blake looked into his green eyes. “That’s what I was trying to do. I was trying to make this special, trying to make sure you wouldn’t stop loving me,” Blake explained, letting the tears fall freely once more.
“Blake, I could never stop loving you. You don’t need to bring me out on New Years. I like spending New Years indoors, away from people and with the one I love,” Chris told him, holding him closer.
“Well, now look what you’ve done to me,” Blake said, sitting up slightly. “I’m wet mess here. All over New Years. Never did like the holiday.” Chris laughed at kissed Blake, savoring the touch of their lips together.
They looked out the window as the ball slightly dropped. “10, 9, 8…” Chris began. “7, 6,5..” Blake continued. “4, 3,2,1!” They said together as the ball dropped and streamers were released into the air.
“Happy New Year, baby,” Chris said, kissing Blake again. “Happy New Year,” Blake returned, and kissed Chris.
2008 was looking to be a good year for the two of them.
