all the peaches in the sea

Recently while hanging out in some outskirts* neighborhoods (Lake City, South Seattle, West Seattle), I thought, not for the first time, that I would consider living in such places if the public transportation in this town didn't SUCK so much.  Living in many neighborhoods is pretty much out of the question if you don't have a car, and  even if you do, it's still a royal pain in the ass to get into/out of the city center, because there is often only one main road or highway that goes there, and it's frequently congested.

This also brings to mind that I recently read about how people have been advocating for better public transportation (as in rail) in Seattle since 1979, it just somehow hasn't been acted on until the last couple of years.  Yeah.

*Pet peeve: when people refer to such places as "suburbs."  If it's technically within the city limits, it's not a suburb.
