[As Hunny talks, his voice is relaxed and his smile is wide. He's happy, but this is a different, quieter happiness. In particular, this is a happiness that isn't fueled by a sugar high ( Read more... )

Oh, they're so cute!
[He's kind of jealous, actually. But, he would never show it.]

...I don't think I've met you before! I'm Hunny. Do you want to have cake with me some time?

Yes! Too bad we didnt have any of it at the Lost Grounds. I'm sure the Main Land probably had them, though.

You mean... you went without sweets?
[His eyes are getting wide]
How did you survive?

[Kanami shrugged.]

I usually lived off of the vegetables and other things we got from working a the local farm. Although, Kazu-kun isn't any help with the farm. We barely got by. We only had one futon and Kazu-kun always insisted that I had it.

[Hunny is genuinely concerned now.]
I'm sorry. That sounds hard.

Yeah, but we got through it. I'm used to it. I was abandoned at a young age. I don't even remember where I'm from. All I remember is Kazu-kun taking me in. But, my time in the Lost Ground has really helped to make me stronger.

I..I understand.
[Hunny looked at her sadly. Such a young girl shouldn't have to worry so much about being "strong", and "getting by".]

The Lost Grounds are a hard place to live in. You have a lot of Native Alters that use their powers for corrupt reasons. Some enslave villages or abuse people. The first village I lived in was taken over by HOLY and then the second one was enslaved. And then you have people from the Main Land like Mujou who want to control the Lost Ground, too.

What are the Lost Grounds? And what's HOLY?

Well, the Main Land would be like were all the fancy stuff is. I guess you can say its for the richer people. They probably have all sorts of cool things. The Lost Grounds is a place where it's not that developed and very poor compared to the Main Land. The Great Uprising had earthquakes high on the rictor scale, causing the grounds to become rough and destroyed in some parts. It was abandoned by the Main Land, but there's still a lot of people who live on the Lost Grounds.

However, there are a lot of Native Alters and the Main Land dubs the Lost Grounds as a dangerous and unstable place. HOLY is an organization to keep Native Alters out of trouble, so I guess it's like a enforcement organization or something. They, too, have alters, but they're much more powerful then the average Native Alters, for the most part.
