Well, I am rather curious. How many of you come from a world where people are oppressed? An' what kinda things do the oppressed have t'go through? An' hell, what side do you find yourselves on? Are you th'...ruling class or those under foot, so to speak? An' finally, why d'you reckon you're on that end of things?

[A brief pause, as if in ( Read more... )

You already know where I stand on most of those. I was the resistance. [Not all of it, but the one who ended it and thus the only part that really counts in his mind.] A soldier in a holy war.

I suppose I technically had a choice, but it sure as hell didn't feel like I did. And you don't have a choice, do you?

Nope. I was abandoned at birth outta fear. I suppose a child with my kinda eyes would be frightening...

That's how it goes, when people don't understand.

Just out of curiosity, are there any sort of pro-mutant cults in your world?

Oh yes. All sorts. I was a member of one for a good long time...Some good men an' some not-so -good men were my comrades. What makes you so curious?

Thinking how most people were afraid of Kira back home, but that didn't stop them from worshiping him.

Or people are idiots who can only see morality in the most simplistic terms. Or the whole world came down with Stockholm syndrome.

It sounds less complicated in your world, but no easier.

Haha. I reckon so. I guess mass Stockholm is always a possibility when there's someone around with that kinda power an' influence on th' world. It's pretty black an' white back home, though. Either mutants are good, or we're the scourge of th' planet.

And I bet you can't win any way you'd go. If you keep to yourself, you're isolationist snobs, and if you try to blend in, you're a threat?

Exactly. There's no middle ground, either. Makes for a ton of extremist groups on both sides.

I know a thing or two about that. At least in your world time might take care of most of the prejudice.

I hope so, mon ami. I hope so. A wise man told me once that the world wasn't ready for mutantkind. Not yet, anyway.

[He sighs.]

Say, Mello. You know Princess Azula?
