The list of things to get done before Saturday's opening reception is slowly diminishing as the day speedily draws near. What's really been consuming my time is this last painting. Yes, a brand new painting, exclusive for the show. I've been spending every available hour on this, forgoing the much needed hours of sleep. I know it can get done... it has to get done! I'm taking off Friday from work to aid in this endeavor. I've surprised myself with my dedication and not succumbing to the sloth ways by means of the television. I plan to have 14 pieces for the show... some current in the past couple years and the others go back some. I know I've done many more pieces in the past few years, they're just not up to my liking to be hanging in a show. I'm a snob of my own work. I've been readying the work by applying shellac to them. Gives them a nice presentation glow... enriches the colors. I have the labels to do still and need to do something for a merchandise display. Yeah, not only will the originals be available for sale, but there will be prints to own as well. I know, I am a giver. I was given the control for the music played, but honestly, I haven't had any time to think through it, let alone compile something. I think I will just use the house selection... it's more upbeat and reception friendly anyway. What I need to do while I'm at the office is hop on over to Macy's and find me something pretty to wear. Nothing fancy. Something classy, chic. So this was my in depth what's-been-running-in-my-head for the past two weeks spiel. I'm excited... anxious and nervous really. Doing the comic-book conventions have helped with being on-the-spot and naked-to-the-world in a sense. That makes me kind of prepared, but with this show, I'll be the sole artist on display. I hope everyone attending has a good time and enjoys the night. I'll be at the Warhol checking out the Shepard Fairey exhibit. Ha, I'm an artist and a comedian.
