Oscars 2008

I watched the Oscars on Sunday. It wasn't too big a deal to me; I don't care much for fashion, don't have many strong favorites, as far as favorite fashions/movies/music/editing, and for those strong favorites I do have, their work doesn't *always* inspire me, so they have their down times, too.

But the definite highlight of the evening for me was Marion Cotillard (from La Vie en Rose). She looked gorgeous (such a transformation from her role as Edith Piaf), had a unique and really pretty dress, and best of all, won the award for Best Leading Actress. She was in the same category as Cate Blanchett, but I was still rooting for Marion. I think she did an amazing job, acting through the life cycle of Edith Piaf. Don't get me wrong, I still think Cate is an amazing actress, and I'm sure she did wonderfully in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, but she's already established in Hollywood; everybody knows her wide range of abilities, so she didn't need this award as much as Marion, imho.

Anyway, further thoughts of the night:
Cate looked elegant, as usual.
Viggo, hon, not digging the beard, but loved his knee-length jacket. Also liked that he brought his niece.
Together, these pics are LOVE! Hi-res, please-and-thank-you-very-much!!
Liked Jennifer Garner's dress, even though many critics didn't; they thought it too goth-like, but I thought the pattern was nice. Liked how she did her hair, too; it softened her facial features.
Nicole's jewels, liek woah!
What is up with dresses and trains? So not practical, especially at a function as crowded as the Oscars. If I was there, I'd purposely step on every single train I saw until I get thrown out.

random fandom, lotr
