unlovablehands asked me to explain three interests and three icons. If you comment, I'll give you three of each to explain.
captain america's boyfriends: A lot of my favorite characters are, physically or emotionally, kinda slutty. I am fond of this, and ship them with many many people. Although Cap doesn't qualify on the physical level--well. He has *many many* boyfriends And slightly fewer girlfriends, although they are more likely to be *actual* girlfriends. Artie, Bucky, Nick Fury, Rick Jones, Tony, Sam, Clint, Jack Monroe, Dennis Dumphy--I'm probably forgetting some people. And as much as I OTP Cap/Falc more than I've OTP'd anything ever before, I am *fond* of the fact that Cap loves so many people so much.
Probably the proximate cause of the interest being listed, though, was reading the storyline in the eighties where Cap'd fallen out with the government (for the second but not last time) and was traveling around the country with Falc, Nomad, D-Man, and Nomad's girlfriend/sidekick Vagabond--three sidekicks and one sidekick's sidekick, with Cap, in one van! I am terribly fond of that era--I do not have any of my scans available (all of them are on my external drive and my USB ports are broken), but it features in my Five Times Steve and Sam Kissed list.
ex-nazi-boats-turned-sailing-churches: Jori may be responsible for this. Or possibly vagabond_sal, or someone else who has since deleted the interest. Anyway, someone linked a version of this news story (warning: sound!), and suggested the interest and it sounded kind of awesome to me (for values of "awesome" that are produced by too many comics and too much Jori), so I put it on my list too.
naked robo-pores: This would be in reference to the android Hourman, who had his own series for awhile in which he and Snapper Carr were very fun and really quite gay. I was talking about it with LC and she coined the phrase and somehow it wound up on my interest list.
Itty & co. from Mary Marvel: The genesis of this icon is all here. I posted an image of Hal all cute with his little aliens, with the comment "Hal gets all the cute aliens!" and noted that one of the aliens would later become known as Itty (Hal's little shoulder-top alien sidekick of the late seventies/early eighties). I also asked for an icon, 'cause I thought the image was really cute, and both Jori and mary_marvel obliged, although Mary's is the one I used.
I use it for Hal and for cute; people occasionally look at it and go ZOMG TENTACLE PORN, which I suppose is a reasonable reaction! :)
Cap did your mom!
For did = kissed and you = Helmut Zemo: There is this special called Captain America: The Medusa Effect, which is set during WWII and features, among other things, Captain America making out with Baroness Hilda Zemo, wife of Baron Heinrich Zemo (then in his villainous prime) and mother of Helmut (who shows up as a little twelve-year-old in a Hitler Youth uniform. This is still how I picture the character).
Not long after, I started getting to know mississippienne and thus Helmut, and there were jokes about Cap having done (sorta!) Helmut's mom. Hence icon!
Mouth to mouth! by TB: I don't really remember why, but at some point a long time ago TB promised me an icon. Since we didn't overlap fannishly a whole lot at the time (it was mostly before my involvement with Marvel, I think), she waited a bit for inspiration (or fandom drift!) to strike. Some time after that, mississippienne mentioned this scene and I was like, YAY CAP/TONY! and dug it up and posted it. And TB made me the icon, in which Tony (DRAMATICALLY!) kisses Cap, even at the expense of his own life from the Red Skull's poison that is affecting Cap.
Recently, I reread the scene with more context and was totally distracted by the Falcon in bondage elsewhere in the scene. Uh. Because I do sort of OTP.
