"The Humane Society of the United States and North Star Rescue worked together with A&E's Hoarders television show and removed approximately 1500 healthy pet rats from a hoarding situation in California. These animals have been transported to a temporary shelter in San Jose and are now ready for adoption. We ask that adopters be prepared to provide a permanent home for the rats they adopt, who have an average lifespan of 2-3 years, and have an appropriate habitat that will be safe for the rats to live in.
Individuals or families interested in providing a loving home for one or more of the rats featured on A&E's "Hoarders" can visit

Adoptions at North Star Rescue. For questions about pet rat care, please e-mail
