First of all, we have two luscious entries in Caitriona's Contest.
roxotaku and
kiramaru7 have both put their oneshots in the hat and are both completely fun! Go read them. Links are on the original
Contest Page.
Second,
frameofmind6 has picked 6 of my icons for me to discuss and explain in my journal. If you would like to have me choose six of your icons for you to talk about on your journal, respond to this post with the word "icon"...
Icon original made by
pilot101 . Used for RL job stuff mainly. Or talking about Heroes. Ya know, even when Heroes is bad, it's pretty good. Kinda like pizza or sex. I've been watching this series since it started a couple of years ago and I've been completely mesmerized by two characters for two different reasons. Gabriel/Sylar is the drool and lust-worthy bad guy of the series who has kept me hooked with his MPD and wonderful acting. Peter Petrelli (as seen in the icon) is one of the heroes who started out as a home health nurse working hospice. Over the course of the series, he has gone from Home Heath Nurse/CNA to action hero to Saving the World to humble paramedic to super paramedic -- all without going to school any more. Now I don't know if I just went to the wrong nursing school, but there are things that he does (like fire big ass guns) that I KNOW he didn't learn in any nursing class! XD
I dont know who made this icon, but I'm pretty sure it was originally from a doushini (sp?) and then colored and re-texted. I wish I knew who'd made it but I stole it before I knew I really kinda needed to keep track. I mainly use this icon for those moments when real life or IY fandom does something that is just so insane that it makes my head hurt. This was my original WTF image. I love Inu's little rosy cheeks in this one.
I actually made this icon for an icon contest a while back. I love Youkai!Inu! He is all that is powerful, animalistic, and sarcastic about Inuyasha. He is unapologetic about his actions; they are completely logical and all about survival. When bandits or youkai bring this side of Inuyasha out, they are not going to get anything sugar coated or mamby-pamby from him. They are going to run or die. On the other hand, this side of Inuyasha knows what is really important and doesn't "ask" for those things; he doesn't feel guilt because he doesn't feel bad about doing what is necessary. The words are from a song by Disturbed (I think, I've forgotten right now) and emphasize the fact that this side of him doesn't feel the need for anyone's forgiveness, pardon, or clemency. I use this icon when I want to say something straight that might seem hard or harsh. As a side comment, I think that Youkai!Inu is dead sexy.
Made by me but only in that I modified from
gimpyslair.deviantart.com/art/IY-Moving-On-93054355 . Go on, go look at the comic. It's worth it. I often wonder what Inu did and though about in those 3 years while Kagome was going to High School. I mean, we know that he went back and checked on the well every 3 days (That's ove 300 times, kiddies. That's dedication) and we know that he went on jobs with Miroku. But what else did he do. I love some of Knitting Knots works so well because she did look into those years and then moved forward and showed us INu and Kagome's future far better than RT did. Anyway, this is my "I'm irritated and grumpy and unhappy and miserable and generally not happy" icon. But isn't he cute?
Icon stollen from
neversince and based on Walter Bishop from Fringe -- another of my naughty TV pleasures. Walter CRACKS ME UP. I love him. He's so flighty and 'real' I think that everyone had that one teacher that was incredibly book smart, but just didn't get reality. That's one side of Walter. Another side is that he was in a mental institution for a while, partly because he was tormented by some of the things that he'd done int he past. As long as he doesn't remember all of the bad things, he can remember many of the wonderful inventions and things he did and help people. A third side of Walter is his joy for the little, seemingly inconsequential, things in life. He spent a large part of one episode trying to re-create a flavor of ice cream from a store that had stopped making it, all because he love the flavor. When he succeeded, he was liike a little kid at Christmas. I usually use this icon when I know that someone else is talking Fringe or when they are talking shop and I don't get it or when I'm talking shop and I don't think that other people will get it.
This was made from a commissioned piece that I commissioned over on Yaoi!Gallery a few years ago. First of all, they are Kawaii Chibi! Second of all they are the Inu brothers hugging and I'll be honest....I'm an Inucest fan. ( I wonder if I should go to meetings at Inucest Anonymous?) Even when I KNOW that the author is going to totally butcher the canonness and play games with the characterization, if it involves Inuaysha and Sess exploring their relationship as brothers, friends, -or- lovers, I'm gonna read it. And BOY have I read some really really BAD Inu/Sess fiction. And I've read some really good Inu/Sess fiction. What is really sad is when the piece starts out as a really GREAT piece of fiction with wonderful story lines, actually good basic characterization, and surprisingly believable twists that lead to any kind of real feeling, only to finish with some poorly written yaoi scenes that take up the next 10 chapters and totally ruin the rest of the story. :sigh: Anyway....this icon gets used when I think that the person just needs a hug or when the topic is Inu/Sess or yaoi.
Now, what else was I going to tell you? I don't remember now. Crap. Oh well, it'll come to be or it won't.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, Good Kwanzaa, Merry Solstice, Cool Yule and a Festivus for the rest of us!
