A Book a Day: Powers That Be

Every day I'm sharing an image of a book I like. I actually picked this one up for a reread after reading a nice essay on it in Tor a few weeks ago (linked below). NGL what I mostly remembered was the sentient planet and people turning into selkies bit, because I would, but a lot about the series really does age well: It's also about small communities of local indigenous people versus the corporate/military industrial complex, and how genocide and colonial control never really go away, they just get rebrand protesters as terrorists, which hey, sound friggin' familiar right now? It also feeds heavily into that late 90s celtic twilight phase, which made me all nostalgic reading. There's also multiple queer couples, which I hadn't remembered at all and was really nice to rediscover. Anyhow, this is a surprisingly light and cheerful read about space and social justice, and do like!
