(12/8/03)

I suppose I’ll keep writing.
Often I lament the ugliness of the Floridian landscape, in the opinion of one who loves terrain, but winters here really are exceptional. Tonight was chilling, but not numbing, a perfect edge to an evening. One day this weekend the sun was setting as I ran, and I stopped in a field to stretch for a little while. Upon looking down and ahead of me, I found that my shadow stretched almost 20 feet in front of me, giving the appearance of a Kenyan shadow that just happened to be attached to my feet. I found that by lifting my feet off of the ground my shadowy leg would jump from 20 feet to three almost instantaneously. Being of my nature, easily amused that is, I’m proud to say I spent some very enjoyable minutes on that field, jumping around like an idiot and dancing with my shadow in the evening light.
Back to winters in Florida.
I spent a good half hour tonight taking pictures of the moon as seen through my trees and a layer of clouds. The clouds seemed to gather the moon’s light and scatter it across the sky, creating an uneven quilt of night. It was beautiful.

I feel as if I should go through an introduction of sorts, for whichever reason. So I shall.

I am a girl.
I am not a normal girl, or so I’m told.
I would rather drive than drink, sing than talk on the phone, and run than walk.
I have the best friends in the world, or so I would like to believe.
I love God, and the world that He created.
Beauty is what makes up so much of what I live for. Music is constantly running through my head, whether it’s self composed or not. My runs are beautiful because they force me to be alone with my thoughts and honest with myself. My friends are all beautiful in their own ways. Sunsets and starry nights have a special place in my heart, as do the ones I spend them with. I have attempted to capture the world with my camera, but there are many who are far more adept at that art than I. Writing is beautiful to me. Words are my medium and the world my canvas.

My name is Caitlin, and I love.
