I haven't posted for a little bit because I've been juggling a few different projects. Unfortunately, I keep coming up with ideas for new projects and get distracted rather than finishing what I've already got going. :(
To Date:
1) Knit animals for all the babies. I've got a bird and a mouse done. They go surprisingly fast, once you sit down and concentrate. I was almost hoping these would be a traveling project, but I don't think so with all the little pieces and having to refer constantly to the patterns. I am having fun with using up my bits and pieces of brightly colored yarns (thank goodness!) but will have to start buying more soon since a lot of my stash is laceweight. Anybody willing to trade skeins?
2) Knit shawl. I found this beautiful cranberry tweed cotton blend I've been making into a nice shawl. I think it's going to end up about two yards long and about a foot wide. However, it's so soft--I think the person I'm making it for will really like it.
3) Counted cross stitch. Two very good friends of mine are getting married next October and I found a beautiful pattern for them. It looks like a stained glass picture of two lovers about to kiss. It'll be gorgeous when it's done, but I know I have to get my a** in gear so it will be ready. I think that's the plan for this weekend. Buying the colors, fabric and getting it laid out and started (hopefully!).
4) Blackwork. I got two blackwork books for the holidays and since I enjoy Cross stitch so much, figured this would be good. I had some cross stitch fabric that has the ends finished (like a belt or trim) that I've started a pattern on. I think this will be a good traveling/eventing project. It's certainly portable and since I've got the pattern started at one end, all I do is continue it.
**This past weekend at Crown Tourney I saw a woman with a gorgeous headscarf that was decorated with blackwork. It was unbelievable! I just wish I had asked her about it.
5) Garb. I know this is a continual thing for me. I'm still building up my amount of fencing clothes as well as wenchgear. I'm also thinking about a couple of saris for Pennsic this year--comfort is a good thing!
Who has time to work? :)
