So I made it to Chely last Sunday night, passed out until 6am yesterday.
For breakfast I had fruit and yogurt and a couple eggs. They love serving tomatoes and cucumbers with everything, even eggs. Eh, I ate them.
For lunch we went to a French restaurant, I had a curry-like chicken, it was VERY buttery and creamy. A little too rich...
Meetings all day.
Then for dinner we went to a Ukrainian restaurant. I had Ukrainian vodka and EVERYBODY at the table had to toast (5 toasts! jeez). They like to put sour cream on everything here, seriously. I had a great appetizer of salted mushrooms. They were very crunchy and you put sour cream on top, pretty awesome. I also had some salmon wraps with caviar on them, salty but tasty. I also had smoked white fish, it was delicious. They also serve slabs of fat, just fat to eat with bread. I tried a bite, but I didn't like it...
For dinner I had borscht. I didn't think that I would like it, but surprisingly I did. It was pretty tasty actually.
I had a cabbage roll, which is a bread roll with cabbage in the center. Tasty.
They love cabbage here and frankly, I do too. I could dig it. They said in college they lived off of cabbage salad with carrots and oil and vinegar. That is too funny. I told them about living off of Ramen noodles.
For main course I had beef and carrots baked in a sour cream sauce. It was interesting, but I only ate half of it.
They don't have peanut butter and many have not had peanut butter, I wish I brought some. They don't have maple syrup, I wish I brought some of that, too. They put condensed milk on their pancakes, so I thought that I would try that for breakfast, it was pretty tasty too. I didn't think that I would like it but I did.
