I got tagged by
atom0001 per my request, so here it is.
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next four to seven sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest [unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy. Then go back to step 1].
6. Tag whoever wishes to participates.
I've shed tears, so please, do let me cry. It may be foolishness at which everyone will laugh, but not you. Your eyes are shining too. Enough of poetry. I want to tell you now about the 'insect', about the insect God has endowed with lust.
And lust in lowly insect fires!
I am that insect, old man, and this has been said of me specially.
The Brothers Karamazov, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
Funnily enough, this really was the nearest book, ignoring reference books and notebooks (no one wants to read a list of French-English words, or a quotation from my thesaurus, or my copied-down definitions from a medical dictionary). XDD
The reason it's closest is because it's my most recently acquired book. Professor Strickler let me have it off of her shelf of books/stuff that we're allowed to keep. I'm going to read it over Christmas (it's 913 pages at size 10, plus 26 pages of translator's notes and stuff), because right now is paper season and NaNo.
Speaking of which...
