[Beginning] Title: Step Theme: Beginning Rating: PG Word Count: 114
She didn't get to name him, the baby that she thought she could love despite his father. She didn't get to name him before he was taken away. Another punishment that Esme didn't understand. As she walked to the edge of the cliff, her legs were weak and her heart heavy but she didn't plan on jumping. Just, when she got to the edge and put her toes over the side, it seemed like the only choice. Everything was gone and she couldn't take another trial, another tribulation from God. It was so easy to take that first step -- a step she thought would be the end but was really just the beginning.
[OTP] Title: Garage Theme: OTP Rating: PG Word Count: 128
"You're being dumb," he said, swatting her hand away from the bike he was working on.
"Hey!" Bella smacked him back, on the arm, the skin on skin contact making a slapping noise.
"Did something just hit me?" he mocked, grinning up at her. "I thought maybe I felt something."
"I was just trying to help with the bike," Bella explained, crossing her arms.
"You know you aren't very good at this type of thing. You help in other ways." Jake raised his eyebrows and wiggled them suggestively.
"Don't start now." But she couldn't help laughin. Jake dropped whatever tool he was using and grabbed Bella by the arm instead, pulling her down on the ground next to her.
"You're getting grease all over my arm," she complained.
[Black and White] Title: Gray Theme: Black and White Rating: PG Word Count: 98
Edward Cullen's life was not black and white, no matter how much he wish it to be. He was a monster with a heart. A vampire with a conscious. A killer with a soul. But when dividing the world between the "good guys" and the "bad guys" Edward couldn't help but feel he landed closer to the bad guy side. It was something that weighed on his mind, especially after Bella. Pure, innocent, white as snow Bella who was so squarely on the "good guy" side that Edward couldn't even see her from his side of the line.
[Sad] Title: Unhappily Ever After Theme: Sad Rating: PG Word Count: 98
She didn't burn cold like the others, but the blood rushing through her veins wasn't quite warm enough. There was something off, and as he brushed his fingers against her cheek he could smell it. Even as he pulled her close into his body, it was noticeable. She wasn't quite human. Nessie looked small and frail, even now 50 years later. His senses rejected her as something other but his heart ached to be close to her. And despite it all, Jacob desperately wanted to protect her and make her happy -- but those two things were mutually exclusive.
[Crossover] Title: Call of the Nemeton Theme: Crossover Rating: PG Word Count: 165
"This was stupid. We shouldn't have come," Rosalie whispered, fearing someone may be lurking in the woods. Alice pouted.
"You felt the pull of the Nemeton, Rosalie. We all did. We had to come!" Though she scrunched up her face in concentration -- still trying to see the reason they came here. Beacon Hills was full of all kinds of supernatural creatures she couldn't see. And it stunk of the Children of the Moon. Alice danced near the edge of the stump as if she were afraid to touch it. Rosalie could feel the power radiating off it, even from a distance. Between that and the sun filtering through the trees, lighting their skin up like diamonds, Rose had a bad, bad feeling.
"Someone's watching us," she hissed.
"Someone handsome?" Alice teased, flitting to her side. "Don't worry, he's not the Alpha."
Derek stepped out from behind the treeline, a slow smile spreading across his face. "I'm not the Alpha, but I'm still pretty dangerous."
[Hero] Title: Saving Theme: Hero Rating: PG Word Count: 114
Damsel in distress was a term she hated but, unfortunately, fit her pretty well over the last couple years. Bella couldn't help but get herself into situations that were over her head. As a human living in a supernatural world that was bound to happen. She just had to make the decision to be the hero of her own story. What better way than to save the only thing that matters to her. Sure, flying to Italy last minute was extreme and would certainly cause a lot of fallout at home. But it was the only option. Bella wouldn't sit by and watch Edward destroy himself. She had to do the saving this time.
[Least Favorite] Title: Alice Theme: Least Favorite Rating: PG Word Count: 143
"Beautiful," Edward said, kissing Alice on both cheeks. She lived for the compliments (in a different way than Rosalie did). Alice was truly in love with high society and formality. The rest of her clan - all having lived through at least some form of it - were not as interested in balls and afternoon tea. Edward humored here though - with cheek kisses and phrases like "My Lady." He even talked about the pretty flush on her face - unlike Emmett who always commented that it was only make-up.
"Thank you," she said with a small curtsy. It was a new dress and Alice was ecstatic he noticed. "Blue is Jasper's favorite color."
Edward's eyes twinkled and Jasper's hands slipped around her waist. Alice swatted him in the head, annoyed that she didn't see him coming. "Some gentleman you are," she pouted.
[Artist's Choice] Title: The Beauty of Rosalie Hale Theme: AC Rating: PG-13 Word Count: 145
If she was being honest with herself, Rosalie knew she was wanted just for her beauty. As a human, she was beautiful -- as a vampire she was something beyond. She knew this, too, as she looked in the mirror at her porcelain skin and red eyes. But suddenly it mattered to her that her looks was all anyone would see. Now she realized that because she was vapid and shallow and thoughtless, people thought they could take what they wanted from her.
Royce took her beauty when he tore her clothes and ripped into her soft skin. Her beauty bled out onto the street as her vision faded. Then she knew she was worth nothing more than the shape of her face. She is ashamed that her last conscious thought was of her looks -- there will be no pretty corpse for Rosalie Hale.
[Artist's Choice] Title: Leaving Forks Theme: AC Rating: pg Word Count: 111
"It's not fair," she said for probably the hundredth time. Instead of carefully folding her clothes to pack them, Rosalie was hurling them across the room at Emmett. But at least she wasn't screaming anymore. "I didn't do anything. I don't understand why I have to move." No matter that for all intents and purposes, Rosalie and Emmett weren't living in Forks anymore. Never mind that they spent the last month in Africa hunting lions. Never mind that this was barely affecting her life at all. Rosalie couldn't let this be about anything other than her. And even though she knew she was being selfish and hurtful, she couldn't stop herself.
[Artist's Choice] Title: On the Run Theme: AC Rating: PG Word Count: 124 This was stupid and risky," she complains. "We used a credit card for god's sake! You don't think they are tracking those? We've been here too long already and I will drive across the border and you can just sleep. We need to get out of the US to have any shot at evading my family for any length of time.
"Evading your family?" Jake rolls over and looks up at her. "What are we, in some kind of spy movie? We are just trying to take a vacation. When we reach Mexico I will call Bella and explain it to her."
Ness rolls her eyes -- they both know Bella is not just going to let them stay wherever it is they end up.
[Artist's Choice] Title: No Choice Theme: AC Rating: PG Word Count: 96 It's surprising what you can get used to after a while: the stark stink of vampires, the absence of voices in your head, blood, cool fingers, snow. He never thought he'd find a place more secluded than Forks. Even the reservation was crowded and bustling compared to the small town where the vampires made a home. But they couldn't stay there forever, not with Renesmee aging so quickly and the Cullens not aging at all. Once again, Jacob was just along for the ride, having no say on their destination and no desire to stay behind.
