Oh yes, NaNo is nearly upon us. I've been scanning the NaNo forums looking to see how the folks on the other side of the world are getting on. Very impressed to see that some people have already crossed the five thousand word mark. I'm hoping that I can get about 2,500 words in before bedtime so that I'm halfway to my daily target. I won't have much time for writing during the day tomorrow because we're out to John's parents' for lunch, plus Monday has been earmarked as housework day.
To hit my target of 125,000 on two stories I need to do about 4,500 every day (I think). If I can hit 5-6,000 each day then I'll have a good buffer. At least I don't need to worry about trips away at the end of the month this year, so no need to finish early.
I've not done half the stuff research-wise that I'd wanted to do, but I've still got notes from last year that I can use. I'm refusing to look at my NaNo attempt from last year because that feels a bit too much like cheating, I'll do this with just my updated outline, thank-you-very-much.
And I can do this. I can.
My NaNo even has a title now. No more NaNovel '08/'09. I decided to listen carefully to some song words to see if I could borrow a song title, and lo and behold, the first one I put on was Katie Melua, Perfect Circle, which, given the way that the end of the story parallels the beginning, fits perfectly. I've also kind of given it a tagline as well: What goes around, comes around. It's basically my serial killer's philosophy - if you do bad things, he'll punish you for them.
So yay. I'm nervously excited for tonight.
